What's Haggis Tours doing for Charity this year?
Here at Haggis Motorcycle Tours we strongly believe in helping good causes such as local and national charities. We take part in as many charity events and support group events as we can possibly squeeze into our busy year.
Below is a few of the events we will be part of this in the 2016-2017 year:
December 2016 Bikes against Bullies rideout & meet:
This event was local to us and was a rideout to meet and show support to two small school age children who are consistently being bullied and harassed in and out of school. The event empowered these young souls to hold their heads up high and realise there is so many people out there who really do care. The bikes against bullies group run group ride outs to these types of things on a regular basis but also offer permanent support and advice for anybody suffering from bullying be it the people themselves or some of their supportive friends and family.
April 2017 : Annual Easter Egg Run for Raigmore Hospital Patients:
This is an annual run as completed by many biking districts around the U.K. We all donate Easter eggs to bring a little cheer to those lay up in hospital beds throughout every ward over Easter. We also use it as a great excuse to get out on a cracking social ride out and enjoy the fresh Easter air. (This run usually marks the start of the season for the fair weather riders)
June 2017 : The Monster Challenge!
In June we are incorporating two mammoth charity bike rides into one "seperate the men from the boys" challenge.
On the 19th we will head 723 miles south to Lands end, we will be raising money during this journey for Highland Hospice, a local charity that is the only hospice serving adults with life limiting disease in the Highlands of Scotland. Once we arrive there we will have some time off the bikes, albeit short and sweet, before meeting back up to engage in a bit of press release etc in preparation to make the northward journey to John o' Groats at the opposite end of the uk. This time we will be raising for Cancer Research U.K. and to make it more challenging we are taking the long way up, avoiding motorways, covering a fraction over 900 miles to get to the most northerly point.
Oh...did we mention that we are doing all of this on bikes we sought and made roadworthy for no more than £300?
By the time we get back home we will have covered over 1800 miles in a couple of days on probably the most unreliable bikes we will have ever ridden...
Unfortunately that is about all we have time to fit into our busy schedule for the 2016-2017 year. But rest assured, we are always looking at ways we can support good causes.
We are also collecting money for a local charity (Birchwood Highland) for 2017 throughout the year.
We at haggis motorcycle tours are proud to have raised over £3000 towards our chosen charity events for 2017.
